Based between Paris and New York, Poundo Gomis is an African Parisian living and loving New York. Born in Paris to African parents, she has been exposed to the best of both worlds. Poundo immersed herself in the performing arts, music and of course, fashion.
She has worked with top directors and choreographers in Europe such as Opéra de Paris star dancer Marie-Claude Pietragalla, Jérôme Savary, Georges Momboye and Anne Fontaine to name a few.
Poundo was a featured dancer in the Broadway hit “FELA!” and has since worked with Alicia Keys, Bill T. Jones, Spike Lee, The Roots and the Cirque du Soleil. She also worked with Aya Nakamura, Gims, Dadju, Vitaa, Slimane, Amir, Hyphen Hyphen, Sting amongst others.
Sharp, multicultural and multi-faceted, Poundo works on the cutting edge, continually developing her craft in the worlds of fashion and art. She is also a contributing writer, blogger and fashionista.
Known to friends as a “swiss knife”, Poundo lends her lived experience to the mix to create vivid, cinematographic music that deflty combines political statements with the thump of a proper house party and the persistent rhythms of the heart.
Poundo delivers a collection of tracks that encapsulate her love of fantasy and her infectious personality while bravely exploring her weaknesses.
Poundo is currently finishing up her debut album set to launch in 2020.
